Immigration fraud is always very common in Canada, so it is important to know what type of immigration fraud to look for. Immigrant fraud is something someone has created to take money from foreigners in exchange for a promise to bring them to Canada. Fraud can be found online, by phone or even personally. With the many attempts that we have noticed lately, here are five types of immigration fraud that you need to look out for in 2019.
Top 5 Immigrant Fraud in 2019
1. Romantic Fraud
This is usually done by someone abroad. They will build a relationship/friendship over the Internet with promises to come to Canada, but first they need some money to help them. They will first demand small amounts, then gradually increase until the victim is broke.
2. Emergency Fraud
This is intended to trigger anger and anxiety that trigger a rapid response that prevents logic from being used. These include CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) and immigration fraud. You will pretend to be an officer and accuse yourself of not paying taxes or that there are problems with immigration forms, and if a fee is not paid immediately, the police will come and arrest you or a family member.
